Tecmo Is Stab In The Back

Posted by jhard713 on June 20, 2008

This can be found on www.gamespot.com Days before the highly anticipated Ninja Gaiden II, Tomonobu Itagaki resigned from Tecmo, slapping the company with a lawsuit. Itagaki says that he was owed unpaid bonuses of some $1.4 million dollars. With this going around Tokyo, other rumors came about saying that other member of the team of Ninja Gaiden has also handed in their resignations with a number of them filing a class-action lawsuit. What is a class action lawsuit you say? A “class action” is a civil suit brought by one or more people on behalf of themselves and others who are similarly situated. In other words, the others are in a substantially similar circumstance where the common issues are the most critical to the lawsuit. For example, if a large number of consumers are injured as a result of an allegedly defective product, the principal issue will be whether the product caused the injury. After following this up, Itagaki reported a “no comment” with the reporters.  But with the lawsuit that was filed and the one that Tecmo says, does not match up. Reporters in Tokyo say that according to Tecmo, “

Although a lawsuit was filed by the two employees, on April 1, 2008, Tecmo did notify all affected employees that they would be appropriately compensated, and is currently in the process of solving the matter. There are several inaccurate reports stating that all 300 company employees are named in the lawsuit, and the company would like to clarify that only two employees are involved in the suit.” (www.gamespot.com) With this predicament in affect the Tokyo Stock Exchange released information saying, “It is unfortunate that false and inaccurate reporting of our organization and employees’ actions have caused some unrest among our development staff members. Tecmo would like to assure its partners and loyal fans that its teams continue to focus and work on several projects to be released and announced in the future.” Good news for us but bad for Mr. Tomonobu Itagaki.

Thank You
